The Cumbria Way is Grade 2, meaning easy-to-moderate hiking. Daily walks last 4–6 hours in hilly terrain. Anyone with basic fitness can join.

Do I need to carry my luggage?

No, your luggage is transferred daily. You only carry a light daypack.

Can I book flights with you?

Yes, but it’s cheaper to book them yourself. If you prefer, we can arrange flights with a handling fee.

Breakfast is included. Lunch and dinner can be purchased locally or packed.

Do I need a visa for the UK?

From 2025, most travelers must apply for an ETA (Electronic Travel Authorisation).

What’s the weather like?

Spring: 10–15°C, mild and fresh. Summer: 15–25°C, warmer with some rain. Autumn: 10–20°C, mild with increased rainfall.

The Cumbria Way is the ultimate Lake District adventure. Dividing Cumbria in two, this route invites you to explore valleys, lakeshores, old green roads, and charming towns with mountain walls rising dramatically around you. Originally envisioned in the 1970s, the route was fully marked in 2007 and has since become one of England’s most celebrated walking trails.

You’ll follow paths once walked by poets and dreamers, with highlights such as Coniston Water, Elterwater, Derwentwater, and the Langdale Pikes. Each day promises new scenery and experiences: waterfalls, woodlands, cosy villages, and panoramic mountain views. And at the end of each stage, warm English hospitality awaits you in hand-picked hotels and B&Bs.

Day 01 :

Arrival in Ulverston

Welcome to the charming market town of Ulverston, your starting point. Stroll its cobbled streets, enjoy a local pub, and prepare for the adventure ahead.

Day 02 :

Ulverston → Coniston

The journey begins with rolling farmland and heathland blanketed in ferns. End the day walking along the shimmering Coniston Water before reaching the lively village of Coniston.

Day 03 :

Coniston → Langdale

Follow wooded paths to Tarn Hows, once owned by Beatrix Potter. Continue past the stone village of Elterwater before entering the dramatic Langdale Valley, framed by towering cliffs and the famous Langdale Pikes.

Day 04 :

Langdale → Rosthwaite

Climb Stakes Pass and descend into the remote Langstrath Valley, where waterfalls tumble into crystal-clear pools.

Day 05 :

Rosthwaite → Keswick

Walk through enchanting Borrowdale Valley, then over Cat Bells (451m) for breathtaking views of Derwentwater. Arrive in Keswick, a vibrant town known as the beating heart of the northern Lake District.

Day 06 :

Keswick → Caldbeck

Begin with a climb towards Mount Latrigg (368m). Choose between the High Level Route (reaching High Pike, 658m) or the gentler Low Level Route through the Glenderaterra Valley. End in the picturesque village of Caldbeck.

Day 07 :

Caldbeck → Dalston → Carlisle (Train)

Say goodbye to high mountains and follow the peaceful River Caldew through rolling countryside. Finish in Dalston, then take a short train ride (10–20 minutes) to Carlisle, a historic border city.

Day 08 :

Departure

Bid farewell to the Lake District or extend your holiday into Scotland or beyond.
